But honestly, since I use some legacy X apps like Wine, it is a mess. I have the issue of remote (via SSH) tmux. It just does not want to copy/paste. On macOS I don't have the issue as long as I stay local.

Tmux will not pass along the OSC52 escape sequence unless you set a terminal-overrides with “Ms” to let it know your terminal supports it.
